Arthy Yoga, M.D. is fellowship trained in Breast Surgical Oncology and certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery. Dr. Yoga works closely with Bethesda Women’s Health Center to oversee surgical breast care services.
Prior to joining Bethesda Health, Dr. Yoga was on staff at Southern Regional Hospital in Riverdale, Georgia, where she gained extensive experience in performing a comprehensive complement of breast surgical procedures including: ultrasound-guided biopsy, stereotactic biopsy, nipple sparing mastectomy, oncoplastic surgery, port placement and Mammosite placement.
In addition, Dr. Yoga has comprehensive experience in benign and malignant breast disease, high risk screening and genetic counseling, as well as lymphovenous anastamosis, a special technique used to reduce lymphedema after axillary lymph node dissection.
Dr. Yoga received her Fellowship-training in Breast Surgical Oncology from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital. She completed her Residency in General Surgery from Staten Island University Hospital, in Staten Island, and she received her Medical Degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University, in Syracuse, New York. She also received advanced training in oncoplastic technique at Clinique Bizet, a plastic surgery clinic in Paris, France.
With a family history of breast cancer, Dr. Yoga has a personal interest in breast health. She advocates for early and frequent screenings and genetic risk assessments. She takes pride in helping her patients return to normalcy, inside and out, using plastic surgery techniques and guiding breast cancer survivors in the survivorship program. Dr. Yoga is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
