Jared Smith
For the past 25 years, Jared’s career has been focused on the South Florida healthcare market, including eight years in the Palm Beach market. He comes to Baptist Health from Broward Health Coral Springs where he has served as Regional Chief Executive Officer since January 2018. While in this role, Jared has been responsible for overall strategic, quality and operational aspects of the hospital. Under his leadership, the hospital improved its Leapfrog Hospital Safety rating to “A,” reversed a five-year trend of declining market share in a highly competitive market, completed a $65 million expansion, and revitalized several critical service lines and programs, including cardiac care. Prior to his time at Broward Health, Jared held increasingly progressive leadership roles at Tenet Health, including serving as the organization’s National Service Line Business Development Administrator and Chief Operating Officer of Delray Medical Center. As a visionary and accomplished leader, Jared’s focus and passion have been to lead strategy, business development and physician collaboration, while continuously improving quality, patient care, collaboration and culture.
Jared is active in many community and professional organizations, including South Florida Hospital and Health Association, where he served as Executive Board Chairman, South Florida Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Committee, and Coral Springs Economic Development Committee.
He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting and his master’s degree in taxation from the University of Miami. After graduation, one of his very first roles was with Deloitte, where he worked on the Baptist account in the 1990s – a “full circle” moment in his career. He and his wife, Tracey, a labor and delivery nurse, have a 14-year-old son, and they live in Parkland.
