Classes, Support Groups & Tours

 

To help you prepare for the big day, Bethesda Center for Women and Children offers a variety of prenatal classes and tours. Learn what to expect during labor and delivery, and tips to help get through it. Plus, receive guidance directly from our experts about infant feeding, nutrition, baby care, breastfeeding and parenting.

 

Tours and classes are offered monthly in the following areas:

 

Breastfeeding ($25*)

Taught by certified lactation consultants, expectant parents learn the benefits of breastfeeding, keys to success, breast pumps, returning to work, and weaning. Both parents are encouraged to attend.

 

Childbirth Education Class ($75*)

Learn what to expect during vaginal and cesarean births, breathing and relaxation techniques, signs of labor, and anesthesia options.

 

Infant Safety ($25)

Learn Infant Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for newborn to children eight years old, plus other steps to take in an emergency. There are no discounts or certifications given for this class.

 

Race to the Finish ($50)

A one day, 4-hour "condensed" childbirth class to help parents understand the natural labor and delivery process, medical interventions, postpartum and infant discharge care.

 

Tours (FREE)
Tour the Labor, Delivery and Recovery Suites at Bethesda Hospital East. See the Postpartum Mother/Baby unit and ask questions about Bethesda's maternity services.

 

La Leche League Breastfeeding Support Group (FREE)

La Leche League Breastfeeding Support Group meets the 1st Saturday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the Clayton Conference Center at Bethesda Hospital East. Call Wynna at (561) 649-8938 for more information.

 

TEACUP Preemie Program - NICU Parent Support Group (FREE)

The TEACUP Preemie Program provides resources and support for families with a premature infant in the NICU.  Support groups are held the 4th Thursday of each month from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the Parent Education Center in 1 West at Bethesda Hospital East.  No registration or fee required. Call The Children’s Healing Institute at (561) 687-8115. 

 

Creole and Spanish Childbirth Classes (FREE)
Bethesda Health is proud to partner with The Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County and Florida Health – Palm Beach County to provide free Spanish and Creole Childbirth Classes.

Boot Camp for New Dads ($20)

Join veteran dads (with their babies), who will tell you how they made it through the first months of parenthood and resurfaced as confident, on-the-job fathers. Learn how to handle a baby, find out about issues you didn’t know were important and how to blow off issues you thought were. In this men-only environ- ment, no question is stupid and no topic off limits. This class takes place in the Clayton Conference Center at Bethesda Hospital East. The fee of $20 is due at the door (cash or check). Registration required. Call the Bethesda Baby Line at (561) 369-2229 for more information and class dates.
