Prenatal Classes & Tours
To help you prepare for the big day, Bethesda Center for Women and Children offers a variety of prenatal classes and tours. Learn what to expect during labor and delivery, and tips to help get through it. Plus, receive guidance directly from our experts about infant feeding, nutrition, baby care, breastfeeding and parenting.
Tours and classes are offered monthly in the following areas:
Baby Care ($25*)
A three-hour class covering topics such as newborn health and safety, car seat safety, childcare, coping skills, and more.
Breastfeeding ($25*)
Taught by certified lactation consultants, expectant parents learn the benefits of breastfeeding, keys to success, breast pumps, returning to work, and weaning. Both parents are encouraged to attend.
Child Safety ($25)
Learn Infant Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for newborn to children eight years old, plus other steps to take in an emergency. There are no discounts or certifications given for this class.
Childbirth Education Class ($75*)
Offered as a four-week series or a one-day class. Learn what to expect during vaginal and cesarean births, breathing and relaxation techniques, signs of labor, and anesthesia options.
Prenatal Exercise
A total body workout designed to increase mommy's strength and endurance, while ensuring the baby's health. Learn proper body mechanics by combining cardio, resistance training, and stability ball exercises. Pre-registration and physician permission is required. This class is in partnership with Healthy Moms® - dedicated to enhancing the physical and psychological well being of women before, during, and after pregnancy.
Tours (FREE)
Tour the Labor, Delivery and Recovery Suites at Bethesda Memorial Hospital. See the postpartum mother/baby unit and newborn nursery, and ask your questions about Bethesda's maternity services.
Childbirth Package Plan ($125)
Ask about our new discounted class package. Includes Childbirth Education, Breastfeeding, a FREE series of exercise classes, and one additional class of your choice.
Big Kids ($10/family)
During this fun and interactive class, big brothers and big sisters will learn what to expect when the new baby arrives and how they can be great helpers for mom and dad.
*There is a $5.00 discount if you are delivering at Bethesda Memorial Hospital.
Pre-registration and payment are required prior to all classes.
