Interventional Radiology

Interventional Radiology (also called Special Procedures) is a specialized invasive-procedure area with a variety of procedures encompassing all body systems.  Imaging techniques, including fluoroscopy and ultrasound, are utilized to guide the placement of needles, catheters, angioplasty balloons and stents to sites deep within the body.  These procedures are often performed with moderate intravenous (IV) sedation and usually do not require anesthesia. These procedures sometimes provide an alternative to surgery.
