Roger L. Kirk Named President & CEO of Bethesda Memorial Hospital and Healthcare System, Inc.

     (Boynton Beach, FL --)  The Boards of Trustees of Bethesda Memorial Hospital and Bethesda Healthcare System, Inc., are pleased to announce that Roger L. Kirk has been named the new President and Chief Executive Officer of Bethesda Memorial Hospital and Bethesda Healthcare System, Inc. Mr. Kirk’s promotion took effect Saturday, February 18, 2012, at 12:00 a.m., upon the retirement of former President and CEO Robert B. Hill.

     Mr. Kirk joined Bethesda in 1988 as Vice President, Operations. He was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 1994. Under his leadership Bethesda has maintained a strong growth and financial trend.  The Hospital has consistently been recognized nationally for its clinical excellence and was named “Business Leader of the Year” in 2011 by the Palm Beach County Leadership Business Network. Bethesda Memorial Hospital, a 401-bed, not-for-profit community hospital cares for more than 60,000 patients in its Emergency Department annually, delivers nearly 3,000 babies annually and admits more than 20,000 patients each year. 

     Among his accomplishments, Mr. Kirk was instrumental in securing financing for the development of Bethesda West Hospital, a new state of the art medical center under construction in the western communities.  Bethesda received an unprecedented A3 bond rating from Moody’s.  Prior to Bethesda, Kirk was a Vice President for the Voluntary Hospitals of America, (VHA) a national hospital cooperative of some 900 leading nonprofit institutions in the U.S.  Mr. Kirk helped develop regional hospital systems throughout the Southeast.

     Born October 6, 1955, in Princeton, West Virginia, Kirk received his Master of Arts in Health Care Administration from George Washington University, in Washington, D.C. Among his professional interests, Kirk serves on the Board of Directors of VHA Southeast, is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and past chairman of the Board of the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce and a member of Rotary International.

     An avid golfer and outdoorsman, Kirk and his wife Dale live in Boynton Beach.
