Recovering from Breast Surgery

The Post-surgical Breast Cancer Education and Exercise Session at Bethesda Outpatient Rehabilitation helps individuals who experience shoulder or edema (swelling) problems following breast surgery. Individuals within a month or two of their procedure could benefit from this class.

During this session, you will:

• Learn signs of potential shoulder problems
• Learn exercises and activities to avoid shoulder problems 
• Learn how to ensure optimal shoulder function 
• Understand the risks of arm edema 
• Learn strategies to prevent potential arm edema 
• Learn methods to avoid potential breast edema 
• Learn what to do should arm edema appear later in life
• Sessions are FREE and can be individual or small group.
